By mere coincidence with a publishing of Data Center News article about rumors of a potential revival and/or re-engineering of OS/2 at IBM, I decided to experiment with that legacy, closed source, operating system and find out how it fared in a social network-centric ecosystem ...I wanted to know if OS/2 even possessed a mechanism (software, application) -other than the browser- to interact with Twitter -the Microblogging social platform. Consequently, if an OS/2 user could interact (or tweet) via a Twitter client, I wanted to know how "filtered" the information would display on the OS/2 client applications -as measured against existing closed source mainstream alternatives. My curiosity did not originate in a vacuum but was impulsed by an incident involving "modern" proprietary software. Evidently, OS/2 is the closest I will get to use a proprietary operating system and had curiosity for its capabilities to support the 140 character limit microblogging platform. more »
